Can you hear their voices?
Can You Hear their Voices? was a unique event at the Palisades Park Public Library.
It honored and raised funds for the Comfort Women at the House of Sharing in Korea who were sexually enslaved during World War II. Below you will see clips from the event, as well as an impassioned talk by Dai Sil Kim-Gibson, author of the book Silence Broken, on the silent suffering of these women.
At the April meeting of the Palisades Park Mayor & Council, a resolution was unanimously passed to create a memorial to the Comfort Women who suffered atrocities during World War II and whose voices were silenced for so long. The memorial will be placed in front of the Palisades Park Public Library where everyone can give homage to these courageous and unsung women of many countries across Asia, and in particular, Korea. This will be the first memorial of its kind on public land in the United States.
